Mocking Jay by Suzanne Collins is an exciting and the best book in the Hunger Game series. The book is exacting and action pack throughout the book and will keep drawing you back to it. The book takes place after Katniss escapes the 75 Hunger Games and is on her way to District 13 which everyone thinks was destroyed by the Capitol years before. Once she arrives she asks her Mom why she did not head to District 12. The Mom says that District 12 was destroyed a few hours ago. Katniss feels angry about this because she loves her home and the woods she hunts around, in District 12. Then she meets some fellow tributes who knew about the escape from the beginning but did not tell her because she could blow their plan. Katniss feels angry about withholding information, but realizes it was a good idea. She meets some District 13 officials, and they tell her she is the Mocking Jay or the symbol of the rebellion. Katniss gives a speech about the rebellion and how every should keep fighting the Capitol. She is sent off to District 8 to show she is fighting in the war too. But after the filming she is taken away when Capitol bombers fly over and start to drop their bombs. But Katniss feels frustrated about not fighting what she has started. So she is trained and sent to the invasion of the Capitol. With the rebel forces closing in on the Capitol will Katniss catch President Snow or die trying? Read the Mocking Jay to find out. The Mocking Jay is the best book of the series with action and adventure. It was sad to finish the book because I really like the book and the series. The negative point to the book is that the plotline is not straight forward if have not read the other two books. Also, you can still not understand why Katniss is doing something sometimes because Suzanne Collins does not explain Katniss’s actions very well. In conclusion, Mocking Jay is a great book with action and adventure but does not do a good job explaining Katniss’s actions.
