Choose Your Own Autobiography

I really enjoyed the stories. NPH is a natural storyteller and it was fantastic to hear about how he came to be where he is today. I also loved all of the added things on the audiobook version. However, the format was the biggest issue for me. The second person narrative--known in the Choose Your Own Adventure books--was very impersonal for an autobiography. I didn't think it worked well and it made NPH seem distant from the personal stories, which made it hard to connect to. Additionally, the audiobook forces you to listen to every part of it, so all of the "untimely deaths" and "magic tricks" I just skipped over because I felt they were a waste of time. That being said, the stories were the best part. His time on HIMYM, Dougie, Harold and Kumar, along with all of his theatrical endeavors were great. I particularly enjoyed how he met David and their struggle with surrogacy and the parts about their family. It was a great autobiography, just told in the wrong format.
