"I'll do my best to protect you, and I know you'll do your best to protect the firm." The first (And dare I say best?) of the many John Grisham adaptations of the 90s. It's definitely the best movie about a young lawyer you goes to work for a firm only to find out that the firm works for the mob. Tom Cruise plays Tom Cruise, the Harvard graduate who lands the job. This movie is pretty slow and long (2 1/2 hours) for a legal thriller, but does have a dynamite supporting cast that is almost Altman-esque: Gene Hackman, Jeanne Tripplehorn Ed Harris, Holly Hunter, Gary Sinise, Wilford Brimley, and too many more to name. What is not so dynamite is how terrible Dave Grusin's "jazz" piano score is. They planned, but scrapped the sequel, tentatively called "Firmer" or "The Firm 2: Even Firmer."
