On the forty-sixth floor, in an empty conference room, the corpse of a beautiful young woman is discovered.
The investigation immediately becomes a headlong chase through a twisting maze of industrial intrigue, a no-holds-barred conflict in which control of a vital American technology is the fiercely coveted prize—and in which the Japanese saying "Business is war" takes on a terrifying reality.
"A grand maze of plot twists . . . Crichton's gift for spinning a timely yarn is going to be enough, once again, to serve a current tenant of the bestseller list with an eviction notice."—New York Daily News

Kinda racist.
Not one of Crichton's best but that simply means that it's very good, not excellent. Well researched, interesting plot with several unexpected twists, and a loud and distinct warning to the American business people
If you are a fan of whodunnits you should enjoy this work. Besides being a murder mystery this book gives one a primer on the business culture of Japanese corporations. Crichton manages to maintain a high degree of interest as he tells his tale. Well done and well worth the read.
Rising Sun ---- by Michael Crichton c – 1992 / (DVD / VHS c - ?) ---- Excellent! ---- Read the book! ---- Thriller /Mystery ---- I found this story very hard to put down. The movie is really awesome as well. ---- Enjoy! ---- RichardPaul
Crichton lectures about the takeover of U.S. corporations and even some universities by Japan. By now the big threat is China, so this book is dated. To make the lecture interesting, he hides it in a murder mystery. The Japanese have tapes of the murder, for it took place during a conference, but some tapes have disappeared, and others have been changed. The search for the murderer is interesting, as is the description of Japanese customs, but the lectures are dry.
I love this author.
