Witness for the Prosecution and Other Stories is a collection of eleven tantalizing tales of murder and other criminal pursuits--including the classic title story, the basis for the 1957 Oscar-nominated Billy Wilder film starring Marlene Dietrich, Tyrone Power, and Charles Laughton.

A murder trial takes a diabolical turn when the wife of the accused takes the stand. . . . A woman's sixth sense--and a loaded revolver--signal premonitions of doom. . . . A stranded motorist seeks refuge in a remote mansion and is greeted with a dire warning. . . . Detective Hercule Poirot faces his greatest challenge when his services are enlisted--by the victim--in a bizarre locked-room murder.

From the stunning title story (which inspired the classic film thriller) to the rarest gems in detective fiction, these eleven tales of baffling crime and brilliant deduction showcase Agatha Christie at her dazzling best.

Terrific! Highly recommended.
Collection of eleven short stories, first published in various periodicals, mostly in the 1920s and 30s.
It includes the famous “The Witness for the Prosecution” and no matter how much you enjoyed the subsequent movie, Agatha Christie’ writing style is so sharp and clever, the original short story is stunning.
A recurrent theme in many of the thrillers in this collection is psychic phenomena or, rather, an illusion of that, overlapping and confounding more simple and startling mysteries.
Thank goodness for Large Print editions.

"Witness for the prosecution" is a nice, short story from 1924 that is approximately 20 pages if you have the right page and font size. But it made its' way onto the screen in 1957 performance; a 215 minute long movie starring Tyrone Power, Marlene Dietrich and the eminent actor Charles Laughton. Ironically Laughton's screen role gets just a single sentence reference in the book. Hollywood changes everything,
