Didn't need most of the domestic scenes, the younger brother's over acting, melting-street CGI from the 2009 John Cusack "2012" and fast-and-loose subplots. However, good entertaining for disaster movie fans and appreciated the root premise on climate change, a possible solution, heroic scientists and evil politicians. (The Asian actor Wu, Yanzu or Daniel Wu looked familiar. A little search noted that he was born in Berkeley, raised in Orinda California and starred in numerous Asian and Hollywood films.)

There were huge holes in both the plot and the science behind the weather control space station. Should I mention the clichés? I cringed to see these mostly good actors mouthing the lame dialogue, but it was entertaining in an action, edge of your seat thing. And it was pretty much what I expected. I have seen a whole lot worse from some supposedly better productions.

Could have been a good movie, the movie had many good actors, but the script was so bad..really bad..

I'd say it's like a cheesy sci-fy channel disaster movie with a bigger budget, but those films have better scripts than this steaming pile of space debris. The weather controlling satellites are as ridiculous as the science behind the Day After Tomorrow, but at least that movie had some redeeming qualities. This one has nothing to latch onto. It's just filled with bad cliches about the burned out scientist who is the only one that can fix a problem, and he has a daughter.. of course. Some hokey political intrigue that isn't intriguing at all... Some of the disasters were well made, which is about the only good thing I can say about the film. If you don't care if characters live or die all the pretty CG is wasted (and some of the CG wasn't all that great). At least it wasn't more than 2 hours long.

From IMDB Trivia Section: Several cast and crew, even extras, noted that lead star/producer Gerard Butler did not appear to know many of his lines.

No joke - this is seriously from IMDB

Sadly, there are many very well known actors (that lost some respect in my eyes) in this abomination that must have just shown up for the paycheck.

The ending of this movie could have been written a little better. However I really enjoyed the on and off-earth action scenes and the space beans!

I personally really liked Gestorm. It certainly got my heart thumping! Good action and an entertaining film overall. I’d give it a four star:) I would say that it did have a couple bloody and disturbing scenes and one sexual scene, but besides those- great film!

really poor

I saw this in the theatre and wasn't very impressed. Why does it require biometric input from the US president to reboot the weather satellites (something you'd think would be needed for regular maintenance) but something more severe kicks in automatically? The point where the baby-faced brother enlists the help of a hacker woman (you can tell she has the skills because she has earbuds and more than one monitor) and she types "mkdir -p" was pathetic. Try not to think about it if you just want to enjoy an action film.

This is a terrible (1/2 star) movie but at the same time it has pretty decent CGI and is actually SO bad, it's rather entertaining to watch and make fun of.
Check it out if you like to laugh at free bad movies, otherwise skip it.

Opening narrative:
Everyone was warned but no one listened. A rise in temperature... ocean patterns changed and ice caps melted. They called it extreme weather. They didn't know what "extreme" was. In the year of 2019... hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and droughts unleashed a wave of destruction upon our planet. We didn't just lose towns or beach fronts. We lost entire cities. The East River swallowed Lower Manhattan. A heatwave killed 2 million people in Madrid in just one day. But in that moment facing our own extinction it became clear that no single nation could solve this problem alone. The world came together as one. And we fought back. Scientists from 17 countries, led by the U.S. and China worked tirelessly not as representatives of their nations but of humanity.
A geostorm. Simultaneous catastrophic weather events triggered all over the globe. Once they pass the minimum threshold, the storms will start
causing new storms. Like a chain reaction until they merge together.

Think of it like I'm going on a vacation for a week or two.
-To a place 250 miles straight up? And negative 450 degrees? Some holiday.

I've given you an opportunity, Mr. President. You should take it.
-An opportunity? ...Let him go...It's genocide, Leonard!
You say genocide, I say preemptive strike.
-You've lost your mind!
Tomorrow, the sun will rise, all our enemies will be gone. Wiped away as if
by the hand of God!
-Why would you do this?
Because no one else would. I'm turning the clock back to 1945... when America was a shining city on a hill... not just a bank disguised as a country.
-By playing God?
What the hell is Dutch Boy if not playing God? Ask Max, he knows. Science is all about playing God. Sometimes, God doesn't play so nice.
