Beautiful scenery and well made. Not sure why so many negative comments. I like this much better than any Star War.

Not a great movie. Beautifully filmed, and special effects. No chemistry between the main couple. Rihanna was surprisingly good in her role.

It's a Sci-Fi Action Caper Comedy people, lighten up, jeesh! (Think '5th Element', 'Guardians Of The Galaxy') I watched it alone at 2AM with a couple of glasses of wine after working late. Eye Candy,i.e.,amazing, imaginative and well executed costume, creature and set designs, 'just go with it' convoluted story and character relationships. Entertaining if you value some esoteric mindless escapism on occasion.

It's very difficult to like a movie when you hate the main characters within 5 mins of meeting them. I am struggling to find anything good to say about this movie, the creature and mechanical designs were interesting, but that wasn't enough to save the movie, it was terrible...and I am pretty forgiving when it comes to science fiction and fantasy.

I like this film based on the French graphic novels from 1967. I found the actors having a chemistry together and liked the strength of the women special agent partner. I was at first struck with the youth of the two main characters, compared to their "rank" and high regard, with their jobs, but that did not linger, as the story takes place in the 22nd Century.
I found the story and imagination flowed well and the only other slight problem, was that it is an age old story, which borrowed from many different other films.
There is over an hour of special features on the DVD, which talks to the actors, writers, director and other aspects of the film.
Knowing the original date of the story, makes me see that this was a more of a trailblazer, than I had first thought, as film seemed to have borrowed from Star Wars, 5th Element (same director) and Avatar.

I gave up halfway through this travesty. That’s an hour of my life I’ll never get back.

This movie is awful. The special effects are incredibly superb but are tied to a plot that is nonsensical and mangled. The stars of the film are wooden and offer nothing for the viewer. Bad flic, untrue to it's genre. I didn't even watch it once but skipped through at 10 minute intervals hoping it would get better- it didn't it got worse.
Read the comic this movie was based on- THAT is worse reading.

this movie is excellent for what it is: based on a graphic novel. The special effects are incredibly superb (possibly the best I've ever seen) and the performances were exactly what they were supposed to be. Fun flic, true to it's genre. I watched it twice to appreciate the subtleties.

Terrible- the two leads have no charisma or presence- I had to shut it off they were so annoying. The CGI is overloaded to such an extent that it overshadows any semblance of story of plot- so in the end you're left with a meaningless jumble of mush and nonsense.

I don't understand why the critics hated this. Oh, wait - it's a Luc Besson movie.

I loved it: Laureline is a real pistol who doesn't take any crap from Valerian, the effects were gorgeous, the music was fun, and the plot moved along wonderfully. The only trouble I found was with the Blu-ray itself: the default sound setting is Dolby Atmos, so if you don't have surround sound, make sure you change the setting to 2.0 before you start the movie.

The mythology of the people on Mül :

Our planet is very beautiful and we live in harmony with the elements. Our activities are fishing and collecting energy. That energy makes fertile soil, control the wind and the waves. Two years we performed on land and sea.
We lived in harmony for centuries. Until doomsday arrives. The sky outside our planet a big battle going on. The war between the two parties, we do not recognize. ...

The city of a thousand planets:
