In addition to making avant-garde films and documentaries between 1926 and 1935, he experimented in a wide variety of artistic disciplines - architecture, painting, graphic arts, photography, theater and fashion. Russian Constructivism was a major influence, convincing him of the artist's crucial roÌle in the development of western society. Using archive footage, photographs, computer and hand-drawn animation sequences, the film surveys his prolific career: his beginnings in Vienna and Berlin; his teaching at the Bauhaus, where he and colleagues Marcel Breuer, Paul Klee and Herbert Bayer laid the foundations of Functionalism; his English period; and finally in his work in Chicago, where he founded a school in the Bauhaus tradition. '...fast paced and information packed, never losing the viewer ... crisp with accompanying high-quality narration. The graphics are clever and well done. This program would be a nice addition to collections with a large demand for art titles.' program Rating Guide for Libraries, USA.
