It began in Scotland, at an ancient stone circle. There, a doorway, open to a select few, leads into the past - or the grave. Claire Randall survived the extraordinary passage. Her first trip swept her into the arms of Jamie Fraser, an eighteenth century Scot whose love became a tale of tragic passion that ended with her return to the present to bear his child. Her second journey, two decades later, brought them together again in frontier America. But Claire had left someone behind.

NOT SF/F. Bodice ripper. I am really tired of having stuff like this foisted off on me as SF/F. This should be listed only under "romance novels". Even for a bodice ripper I find this series particularly brainless and unbelievable. I'm sure the author is weeping all the way to the bank. See my comments on the originating novel "Outlander" for a more descriptive comment.

Favourite of the series thus far! For me, Diana Gabaldon's fourth part to the outlander series more than made up for disappointing 2 and 3. REALLY picks up halfway through. Reread this one loads before returning it!
