Widely considered definitive, and how could you not agree? Jane Austen is doubtless looking down at this production from fluffy Regency clouds in sheer delight. This work depends on Elizabeth from beginning to end, and Jennifer Ehle interprets the role to perfection.

Faithfully recreates Jane Austen's masterpiece. The Blu-ray has gorgeous color and hours of special features about the making of this epic.

An excellent adaptation of one of my all time favorite novels.

Perfection. There is not a single facet I would change. I love to read the book and then see this - beautiful and rich in the details and nuances of the period. Loved it so much, that I bought this 10yrs ago and watch it every year. However the newer release is digitally remastered and more vibrant. Why see any other P&P when this is the gold standard

I get that there are other worthy Pride and Prejudice adaptations, but really, why even bother? This is the best one.

Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy is the best gift to be given to Austen fans. Not to mention all of the other lovely things about this adaptation.

I enjoyed this very much. Well presented. Strong story. Well acted. If you love a non-fiction story using fiction names and places describing what it was like to live late 1800's you will love this story. That is what Jane Austin effectively preserves in her verbatim of the rules of love and the societal class system which existed. It represents what limited options females were allowed in society. Women were unable to follow a career, go to school. Women could only marry to secure their future. They had to try to marry the riches man possible to insure they did not starve or be homeless. The marriage they picked secured the future for their children too. There was no birth control then. If a female risked pregnancy out of wedlock, she was abandoned left to die and so was her child. Thank god, the present society in North American has advanced since then and women have more options.

If you were to give me forty such men, I could never be as happy as you. Till I have your goodness I can never have your happiness.

If you didn't lollop about, there’d be plenty of room for us all, and the bandbox.

Mr Collins trod on my frock and tore it, you know.

She is tolerable, I suppose, but not handsome enough to tempt me.
