I love this show. I think all of the characters are amazing

I really loved this show the first 2 seasons, adult, interesting plot. this season 3, they have retreated to dumbing down the audience. this is remincient of Dallas where you find out Bobby was not really dead, just dreaming. same for noah, he is trying to kill himself and the brandon character is just an illusion. dumb dumb and more dumb.
the only saving grace is of course,if ruth wilson always awesome and the character, cole, joshua jackson.

I believe I referred to “The Affair” Season 2 as “dreary”. Well, we just finished Season 3 and guess what? I’m afraid it is more of the same. I’m not saying this to be critical (ok, maybe I am); I think of this as more of a public service. Be forewarned, there are not many yuks to be had, that’s for darned sure. These characters are all so . . . I guess “damaged” is the word that best describes them. Apparently, they can’t help but engage in the dumbest, most self-destructive behaviors. In fact, this show is like a sexual and stupid behavior round-robin. More often than not, whichever character is being spotlighted in a particular episode, he or she is going to do something stupid, and then have sex with someone that he or she shouldn’t, thereby compounding the stupidity. I do not believe that anyone is 100% honest, but these people are not even close. Lies, lies, and more lies, to themselves and to each other. However . . . I have learned with shows such as “The Affair”, it is possible to want to watch a show with despicable characters, engaging in stupid, self-indulgent behavior. The actors on “The Affair” are quite good at being “damaged”, and I do continue to enjoy the way the each show focuses on the points of view of one or two of the characters. And, maybe all the terrible, awful, stupid decision making on “The Affair” helps me feel better about my own decision making skills.
