I really wanted to like this one because I love Matt Damon, but the fact that his accent kept changing throughout the movie was highly annoying.

A poor film - if you are going to use fantastic beasts it is better in a fantasy. This one used history and tried to make it fantasy. Poor dialogue and acting with ridiculous special effects. The actors and the Western producers raved about the director and his previous work. I have seen three of the four films referenced and they were all so so. Sometimes a director gets a reputation for no reason that I can see. If they were to rave about Ang Lee or Wong Kar Wai, I could understand their eagerness to participate in one of their films.

Gave it 1 1/2 as it had the potential to be great even best of the year. There is a story line the snippets of dialogue weren't enough to pull it all together. I'm sure the only people who can read it are the ones with perfect vision. I was able to use some imagination to think of it as a silent movie but with colour. I would have preferred had the story tellers given us a whole story.

I see that this movie has garnered a lot of negative comments, but i actually quite liked it. A variation on the Chinese fable movies where you have to suspend disbelief at the events in general, it offers colour soaked pageantry and great visuals which made it fun to watch. The acting was okay.
My biggest issue was why the main foreign characters didn't think to just get the formula for gun powder rather than wanting to haul a load of the heavy/dangerous material all the way back to Europe.

All I can say is AWFUL. Do not waste your time with this movie. I turned it off after 20 minutes.

The action and the visual were pretty good; the story and the acting were bad. There was no real plot, other than Matt Damon comes to the Great Wall and helps fight monsters... Some real talent completely wasted in this film.

I zoned out so many times doing this movie. I gave it two stars for the costumes and visual effects. Boring!

Perhaps one of the worst movies I have seen. Poor script, over the top special effects, and quality actors wasted. An action movie to fall asleep watching. To the good of the experience, my family now has a new low end for our rating, "Did it make it over over The Wall?"

Good entertainment. Colorful costumes, cast of thousands, nicely edited, good mix of subtitles and dialogue. Story line is ridiculous but its folklore.

Definitely not what I was expecting. I've seen worse.

Don't just walk away, run away. I picked this movie up at least hoping it was beautiful enough to enjoy visually but honestly my first comment after finishing was that if I had paid to see this movie I would have demanded my money back. SAD.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: Nasty, hideous beasts might be too much for youngsters.

Violence: Lots of battle scenes and killings but not very gory.

Where are the Tao Tei now?
-The mountains, regrouping.
Where do they come from?
-About 20 centuries ago, there was an emperor whose greed brought deep suffering to all of China. The heavens sent the meteor that struck Gouwu Mountain, turning it green and releasing the Tao Tei. From that day on, the Tao Tei rise every 60 years to scourge the north of China. They come to remind us of what happens when greed is unchecked. They eat anything, alive or dead, and take food to their queen. She depends on her soldiers to feed her. Only with the food they provide is she able to multiply. The capital, and its two million
people, is only 800 li away. If the Tao Tei ever had that much nourishment, no corner of the world would be safe.

These men know what they're doing?
-Wrong question. Whether or not the cable is attached, that is the question.
And the answer?
-Xin ren. Xin ren means trust. To have faith. Here, in this army, we fight for more than food or money. We give our lives to something more. Xin ren is our flag. Trust in each other. In all ways, at all times.
-Well, that's all well and good, but I'm not jumping. I'm alive today because I trust no one.
A man must learn to trust before he can be trusted.
-Then you were right. We're not the same.
