Former Navy SEAL Peter "Grunge" Greene's lonely but comfortable life is upended when his longtime ex-girlfriend unexpectedly dies in a car crash, leaving him sole custody of their 15-year-old daughter, Maddie. They move to San Diego to start a new life together, but Maddie quickly falls in with the wrong crowd and soon goes completely AWOL. New to town with no one to turn to, Peter is frantic to track down his daughter and accepts help from his beautiful and surprisingly resourceful neighbor, Shayla Whitman. A romance writer and single stay-at-home mom, Shayla deeply empathizes with Peter's predicament, and a bond quickly grows between them over their shared experiences as parents but blossoms into much more. As things heat up between Peter and Shayla, it's a race against time for Peter and the Troubleshooters team to find Maddie before she makes a mistake she'll forever regret.

Very strange book with a weird writing style. Lots of driving around side roads in CA. Totally steams throughout. Lots of gratuitous profanity. Very little actual SEAL action involved. Forgettable. That's it.

Very good Troubleshooter book in this series Super good read. Lots of funny stuff as well as serious real life experiences. Cant wait for the next Troubleshooter books to come out. I watch for them monthly.

This is Brockmann's best Troubleshooters title in years! Some of her more recent ones tried to pack a little too much into unnecessarily complicated plots with too many characters. This one has wonderfully written characters and well-juggled multi-romances; terrific SEAL action---and humour! Troubleshooters family continues to expand nicely!

I love the Troubleshooters series! I didn't love this book, though. I liked it. Something is missing. Lots of driving around and having sex, but not the action-packed complex plot filled with suspense I've come to expect. This is the only one of this series I don't give 5 stars. Will I still want to read more of this series? Absolutely!!!!!
If you haven't read other books in the series, I think you'll still be able to enjoy this book. Brockmann does a good job of telling us who the regular characters are each time they appear in a new book.
