Add a CommentI'd seen the original a few times but it was nice to see it again bundled with the sequel which I'd only seen bits and pieces of. As for the original it was really cute and I loved Mia's transformation from ordinary teenager to Princess. Julie Andrews was beyond wonderful and I loved Hector Elizondo. Such a cute and funny movie..
As for the sequel, I admit that I lost interest a few times and had to re watch it twice, but all in all I really liked it. Loved the Princess slumber party and what makes sequels work is having most of the original cast. That was a define plus. Gary Marshall directed both of these movies and there is a slight nod to "Pretty Woman" in the sequel (unless I just imagined it).
For me the best thing about this DVD set was/were the extras. So many, including a Princess quiz, outtakes and a featurette on the making of the movie. It looked amazingly fun! I'm almost finished with "Royal Engagement" but I think I'm going to watch it again with the commentary featuring Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo.
Honestly I'm going to be sad when I have to return this to the library, but I will definitely check it out again!
It sucks to many kkkkkkiiiiiiisssssiiinngg
GOOD 2001 Disney film with entertaining plot, acting, etc. Interesting view into millennial teen life. The main teen characters were amusing and well portrayed.
Entertaining, fresh, & fun. These two movies will be enjoyed by kids and adults of all ages. Recommend
A fun and exciting film that captures the hearts of its viewers with Mia's quirkiness, some quick twists and surprises, and hilarious humour.
funny and exiting ads a twist to normal everyday llife and i love it
i recomend it to everyone
I quite enjoyed watching Disney’s The Princess Diaries! I thought that this movie was very unique, and had a very intriguing story line. The main character, Mia, is very likeable, and makes the film much more engaging for the audience. I thought that the story line was clever, and appreciated the well-balanced humour, action, and suspense. The revelation that Mia is really a princess was creative, and made for an interesting adventure and transformation! I think that this is a movie that people of various ages would enjoy, which is why I would definitely recommend that other viewers give it a try! @PenelopeScriptor of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public LIbrary
I have seen this movie many, many times, and just love it even more each time I watch it. I think that it is a bit more of a realistic approach to how a teenager may react and handle the situation if they found out they were of royal blood. I really loved the comedy throughout the movie. It’s hard to express in words the love that I have for this movie. I highly recommend that everyone watches this movie if they haven’t already. And even if you have already seen it (whether that was once or countless of times) I suggest that for your next movie night you choose this one as it will just brighten your day just a little bit more. Rating: 5/5

A favorite guilty pleasure movie of mine. Not entirely accurate to the book, but it certainly captures the spirit of it.
