Jack Taylor is a former cop turned private investigator with little to show for his time in the Irish Guards but his old police overcoat. Few of his former colleagues have any regard for Taylor, who looks more like the people they arrest every day than one of their own. The exception is his friend Kate Noonan, though even she has to walk a fine line between helping Taylor and irritating her boss. Aided by Kate and her cousin Darragh, Jack delves into some of the darkest cases of his career, including the cruxifixion of a young man, the kidnapping of his old nemesis, and deadly corporate espionage. But when Kate receives devastating news, Jack is torn between helpingher through her personal crisis and his willingness to do whatever it takes to crack a case.

Another great season! I was sad at first about Cody leaving for Boston, but I really enjoyed Jack's new assistant, Darragh.

Good stories. The acting feels a bit mannered at times.

Compelling series that got even better with Season two and three. Iain Glen is perfect as the gritty no-nonsense, "do-as-I-like" Jack Taylor. Glen never fails to excel in his various roles. Glad Taylor got himself sorted out after season one. Interesting plots. Look forward to seeing a season four.

Gritty and a bit long in the tooth, P.I. Jack Taylor again solves crimes in Galway in this third installment. I agree with BakerStreetIrregular, Darragh is a very welcome addition, especially considering Jack's staid attitudes and cynicism. He lends a bit of welcome comedic relief too. It has to be said that Iain Glenn gives his all to inhabit this character including serious bodily injury, which I certainly didn't see coming.

Another good entry for the series. Recommended. More violent/suspenseful than your typical BBC mystery. Start with Set 1 if you haven't watched them before.
