The essence of baseball is the primal battle between the pitcher and the batter, a magical moment only 396 milliseconds in the making. The mysteries and memories of baseball s greatest heroes are revealed in Fastball, as it features interviews with dozens of former players, from legendary Hall-of-Famers to up-and-coming All-Stars, including Hank Aaron, Nolan Ryan, and Derek Jeter, with narration by Kevin Costner (Field of Dreams). Fastball is peppered with archival footage of baseball s greatest moments, plus original high-speed 4K footage and motion graphics that unlock the secrets hidden within a ball traveling over 100 mph. While players, historians, and scientists might disagree on who was actually the fastest pitcher in history - and yes, the film does the physics and concludes with a clear verdict - Fastball tells the story of the game itself.

This video is simply excellent with regards to the information it contains. It is most enjoyable to watch as it both entertains and informs. Enjoyed seeing some of the hardest throwers ever in the game and some of the hitters they faced( and their commentaries). The scientific reference-approach to compare pitchers of yesterday with those of today was fun. Besides the sports public this DVD a also a must for any baseball fan, player and coach. Those of us with a science background would enjoy this even more. This ancient form of combat between a rock thrower (pitcher) and a club holder is discussed in the "The Prehistories of Baseball."

I'm not a baseball fan but this is worth the watch. Even someone who doesn't know about the sport could watch this and appreciate the battle between pitcher and catcher, between a person throwing a rock and a person trying to hit it with a stick.
