When Jordie Bennet and Shaw Kinnard lock eyes across a disreputable backwater bar, something definitely sparks. Shaw gives off a dangerous vibe that makes men wary and inspires women to sit up and take notice. None feel that undercurrent more strongly than savvy businesswoman Jordie, who doesn't belong in a seedy dive on the banks of a bayou. But here she is . . . and Shaw Kinnard is here to kill her. As Shaw and his partner take aim, Jordie is certain her time has come. But Shaw has other plans and abducts Jordie, hoping to get his hands on the $30 million her brother has stolen and, presumably, hidden. However, Shaw is not the only one looking for the fortune. Her brother's ruthless boss and the FBI are after it as well. Now on the run from the feds and a notorious criminal, Jordie and Shaw must rely on their wits-and each other-to stay alive.

Looking at some of the previous reviews, it seems that some readers didn't enjoy the book. However, I loved it. Maybe I was just in the mood for something not too deep and Sandra Brown always delivers. There was mystery, intrigue, twists and turns. Towards the end, I couldn't put it down. I definitely enjoyed it.

Very boring, drag on and on, not the usual Sandra Brown, took me a long time to finish which I hugely regretted, wasted my time. Seems to me the book was written 20 years ago.

Complicated story contains authentic police procedural crime dramas, lots of surprises, twists and turns as well as romance and intrigues. It is a story of corruption, kidnapping , tons of money with well developed characters that catch your interest

I agree that this is a very boring book. It took 2/3 of the book to find out who Shaw really is and even then you still don't like him.

Not the best Sandra Brown book I've read. It just seemed to drag on and on and on.

This book was plain boring, and I had to force myself to finish it. What happened to the sexual chemistry? I had to keep checking to see if this was Sandra Brown. Very disappointed.

Pedantic, characters not fleshed out, choppy narrative, verging on boring. I'm making myself finish reading it.
