Wren Noble is dead--she was born that way. Vibrant, unlike other dead things, she craves those rare moments when her twin sister allows her to step inside her body and experience the world of the living.

Lark Noble is alive but often feels she belongs in the muted Shadow Lands--the realm of the dead. Known as the crazy girl who talks to her dead sister, she doesn't exactly fit in with the living, though a recent suicide attempt and time in a psych ward have proved to her she's not ready to join her sister in the afterlife.

Now the guy who saved Lark's life needs her to repay the favor. He and his friends have been marked for death by the malevolent spirit of a vicious and long-dead serial killer, and the twins--who should know better than to mess with the dead--may be their only hope of staying alive.

Lark has been marked. As crazy. Suicidal. Strange. People go out of their way to taunt her or ignore her- even her own parents. But what close to no one realizes is that Lark's delusions are real. And her dead-born twin sister is still hanging around.
Having a sibling can be difficult, but having one that only you can see and talk to is even harder. Lark loves her ghostly sister Wren with all here heart, and keeping her a secret is torturous to her; the only other person who can sense Wren is their grandmother. What doesn't help matters is that Lark wishes she were the one who had been born dead instead of Lark, feeling as if she were the living dead while her sister is the lively dead. Even Wren's hair is more vibrant and alive than what Lark feels inside.
After surviving her time at a mental institute called Bell Hill because of a suicide attempt, Lark is determined to never go back, and prepares for another school year of avoiding people and trying to convince everyone that she is cured of her 'delusions'. But Lark's close encounter with death and her connection to her sister have changed her. She can do more, see more than other people ought to be able to, and her sister is discovering a power within her than seems greater than she expected. And it turns out the Lark's plans to stay away from all things social is going down the drain when the boy who saved her life asks for her help to save the lives of him and his friends.
Trying to find a way to stop an old, evil ghost haunting the local asylum grounds is a difficult task for anyone, especially for a pair of supernatural twins learning to come out of their shell, open up to the thought of having friends, and finding just how much strength they have.

“Sisters of Blood and Spirit,” written by Kady Cross, is one of several novels she has published. Lark and Wrenleigh Noble are identical twins, with two differences. Lark has plain white, while Wren has intense red hair. Lark is alive…..Wren is dead and has been since the moment their mother gave birth to them. She is a Deadborn. Things can’t be weirder between the two of them because, you see, Lark can hear, see and talk to Wren, but, after Lark tries to ‘Be with her sister,’ things get stranger. The two become tangible and stronger than ever. The first day back after recovering at Bell hill, Lark gets asked by her friend, Roxi, to join her and some friends at the ‘Nother Cup’ because Kevin McCrae was playing, Wren’s crush. That was the day everything changed. The people she met, got into trouble with a ghost, a nasty ghost. It is up to Lark and Wren to save their new found friends from being haunted and harmed from this menace. Can they do it? Or is their sister bond more important? Throughout this book, the author made every single detail clear. From the feelings Lark has for her sister to the way she helps her friends get rid of the ghost. Unfortunately, this novel is not part of a series, but on the bright side, this book has the power of friendship, trust, courage and romance that cannot be broken away from these strong-willed characters. I would recommend this novel to anyone who loves action, suspense, paranormal or supernatural things mixed with a little bit of romance. “Sisters of Blood and Spirit,” is a seamless name for this book because they are connected through both of those things. Lark being alive and Wren being dead makes no difference to them. They're sisters, and that’s how sisters are.

Great read! A different take on the "magic twins" idea, which I quite enjoyed.
Pleased to find that the second book in this series is expected to be released next year.

I found this by chance and boy am I glad I did! This book is soooo darn good! The ending maybe left it open if she wanted to follow it up which I kinda hope she does. Not your every day ghost book.
