In the hinterlands of Germany, the servants of the Phantomhive house are at a loss when their master, Earl Ciel Phantomhive, is both physically and mentally debilitated by the curse of the Wolfman that roams the Werewolves' Forest. In the face of his master's pitiful new demeanour, consummate butler Sebastian, disillusioned, viciously takes Ciel to task, citing a breach of contract. As the Phantomhive household's crisis unfolds, the sulphurous miasma of the Werewolves' Forest encroaches ever more upon the village ruled by the Emerald Witch.

Black butler is one of those books that if your into horror stories or mystery you will be entertained. It casts a young man, who is a royal and sells his soul to a demon in order to become successful under his families name. Ciel, (The young man) butler becomes possessed by this demon and can only protect his precious master. One thing I loved about this book was the way the child was this emperor at such a young age although this is what happens in many anime series. Although you would expect a certain message throughout the story, none is given. Ciel is just building his empire with the help of his butler. Without the black butler, Ciel would be weaker and could fail in becoming successful. One thing I wish they would have added was a twist, maybe if Ciel would have fell in love with someone and things would turn more soft. Such as, he made a family or defeated the demon he knew he should have from the beginning and realize that riches aren’t everything. Either way I still enjoyed this book and will continue to read more alike this one. I also believe, if the Black Butler realized what he was really there with Ciel for, things maybe would have change and become different between the Black butler and Ciel. Possible could have started a fight between each other. Overall, I rated this book 8/10 stars. I do recommend this to whom enjoy mysteries.
