In the throes of a quarter-life crisis, Megan panics when her boyfriend proposes, then, taking an opportunity to escape for a week, hides out in the home of her new friend, sixteen-year-old Annika, who lives with her world-weary single dad.
The beginning was horrible, but "Laggies" turned out to be a very nice surprise. I think this is my favorite Kiera Knightly movie and I don't really like her that much at all. Completely unexpected, which is my favorite kind of movie. Not at all what I was expecting. I'm glad I gave it a chance. The fact that it takes place in Seattle was a huge plus, BTW.
Watch it for Keira Knightley, Sam Rockwell & ChloeM. Another dysfunctional family but with a new best friend in the picture. Dysfunctional but with company - not alone. On the plus side, the story line is new. Realistic? Not for me. A lighthearted dysfunctional family story. Take away ... even in a fictional story, liquor continues to make life complicated. The Bonus material was interesting.
I recommend Laggies for those who like independent films and have ever struggled with growing up or know someone who has. Sam Rockwell was my favorite part of this movie; for me, that's true of almost every movie he is in.
Turned this off after fifteen minutes. Was drawn to the movie based on the trailer, but the actual movie lacked the edge and meaning that the trailer had. Movie felt kinda silly and cliche rather than searching and meaningful.
Wonderful, sweet movie! Great performances and wonderful acting by Keira Knightley and Chloe Moretz...actually a wonderful ensemble cast, good story, and very nice scenery of Seattle throughout :)
If it weren't for the fun of trying
to deduce where the Seattle
scenes were shot I would give this flop only 1 star. All the
"F" words sprinkled thru the
whole thing didn't help at all.
Writer gets a "D-".
This movie felt like some odd updated version of The Parent Trap. I just couldn't buy into the premise that Kiera Knightley's character would be so stunted that she would start up a friendship with a 14-year old, and then with that child's father. Gets a few stars from me for the decent cast, although I thought Knightley was a little too old to be playing this role given all of her typical characters.
Kiere Knightly gives a wonderful performance but the movie is terrible. Hard to focus and follow. Sam Rockwell also does a great performance. The story needed some tweaking. filmed in Seattle that is the main reason I watched the film

Okay. Filmed in Seattle and found myself mostly interested in its film locations.

Keira Knightley had an American accent. I still don't know how I feel about this.
