French director Philippe Garrel was born too late to be considered a part of the French New Wave. He is relatively unknown outside of France. He makes this new 2014 film in black and white, perhaps to remind the audience of the new wave. But this would be poor man’s French New Wave, very, very poor. Not much to the story except to say what goes around comes around. The story was influenced by the true story of Garrel's father leaving his young family for another woman. It is ironical that he has his son, Louis Garrel, play the unfaithful father.
