"Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her. While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce," Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name. She's determined to escape him, and willing to take any risks necessary to survive. Unexpectedly, however, the two have a dangerous encounter with people who adhere to a code of justice all their own. At the center of the dispute is a desperate young woman whom Emory can't turn her back on, even if it means breaking the law. As her husband's deception is revealed, and the FBI closes in on her captor, Emory begins to wonder if the man with no name is, in fact, her rescuer"--Provided by publisher.

The very married heroine Dr Emory was sleeping with hero who may or may not be a bad guy...the characters were poorly written and their choices were also ridiculous...I can now move on to other books thank goodness

This is the best book I have read in quite some time! I simply could NOT put it down. This book will definitely leave you hanging on the edge of your seat. I have never read any books from this author and I most certainly do not regret reading this one first. This was such a good story!!

Wow, this was a fun, fast-paced read. I couldn't put it down. I didn't think romance scenes were all that bad....if anything they seemed strained, not natural. But still good book.

Would have been a great book but Brown threw in some Harlequin Romance novel bullsh*t.

I'm on the fence on this one. I'm giving it 2 stars because I really don't need to read about explicit sex, profanity and violence. That doesn't make a good novel, and many times detracts.
The other thing about this novel is the hero is just too super-human: smart, muscular, clever, etc. and it makes the female character seem weak.
What is good about this novel is the twist in the end. When you think you have it figured out, the novel provides a twist.

I have been a fan of Sandra Brown for a long time. This is one of the best books I have read. It kept me guessing right up to the end. I guessed wrong as it was. This is a can't put it down type of book.
