Jordan Turner (Halle Berry) is a 911 operator in the Hive -- the bustling Los Angeles headquarters for emergency operators. Her job is extraordinarily stressful, though the camaraderie she shares with co-workers Flora (Denise Dowse) and Marco (José Zúñiga) helps Jordan to stay sharp and focused during those long nights on the phone. The veteran operator experiences a debilitating bout of self-doubt, however, after making a thoughtless mistake that results in the brutal murder of a young girl at the hands of a sadistic prowler. Six months later, Jordan is taking a group of young trainees on a tour of the Hive when an inexperienced operator receives a frantic call from Casey (Abigail Breslin), a terrified teen who is locked in the trunk of a speeding car after being abducted in a parking lot. Unfortunately, Casey is calling from a disposable phone with no chip, making it impossible for the operator to trace the call.

Jordan was an emergency call-center operator for many years until a young woman who called in died on her watch. She chose to move behind the scenes and train future operators in order to prevent future heartbreak. However, after a young teen girl calls in saying she was kidnapped, Jordan rejoins the front-line of defense. This crime/thriller movie has suspenseful and intense moments as you watch the kidnapped teen struggle for her life, and follow Jordan as she tries to save her. The acting was spotty at times and the dialogue was occasionally over dramatized, however, it was a generally entertaining film. I would rate this movie 3/5 stars @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
An operator for an emergency call center, Jordan (played by Halle Berry), is sent to teaching how to answer calls after a tragic loss occurs after a failed call to the emergency center, leaving Jordan devastated. However, when a kidnapped teen calls in, Jordan takes her case like never before and turns the teen into her partner in solving her own kidnapping case. This incredible story of survival and crime stopping leaves every viewer speechless. The crime thriller was released in 2013 and was directed by Brad Anderson. Whether you love crime, thrillers, or both, this movie is perfect for you.

A very thrilling movie with a great and interesting plot. Where other movies may fail, this one succeeds. Jordan Turner, a 911 operator with a troubled past, receives a call from a young girl named Casey Welson who is abducted by an unknown man. Turner must be able to overcome her past failure and use all her abilities to make sure that Casey remains safe so that she can be rescued. Her failure resulted in a girl’s death six months prior to the call Casey made. Turner called the girl back and the person who broke into the girl’s house found her, and killed her. Will Turner be able to save Casey? And perhaps the unknown man is not so unknown after all.

Excellent movie! Halle Berry is fabulous, as always! Edge of your seat suspense.

Years ago we would have called this an idiot plot. No one in their right mind would have done what Jordan did.

Most of the movie was good but the ending could have been better. Hallie Berry and Mark Chestnut should have been shown together more in the movie. They were a couple in the movie, but they were not shown in many romantic scenes.

This movie requires more than the usual amount of suspension of disbelief. On the good side--which is hard to come by--the 911 operator did have one creative idea regarding the paint. The captured girl also had one original idea at the very end, and unfortunately the movie did not extend on this point.

The acting is of the typical Hollywood expressionless-face style. There was this weird scene where Jordan the 911 operator was giving a training session. One of the trainees kept asking senseless and illogical questions. I wondered why he would even have been short-listed for the position of 911 operator--of course it is just bad script writing.
