Reading the first line made me wary, but this book totally delivers..including a genuinely kick-ass heroine. Not cutesy, not macho, not debilitatingly angst-ridden. Competent and thoroughly enjoyable.

Intriguing from the start...an urban fantasy series with a fresh approach. I am looking forward to reading more of the series and other works by this author.

At times, corny action and cheesy love scenes. But still enjoyable. A hook at the ending to keep readers interested in the next book.

Twisted, a little spooky and bloody (what can you expect with a main character being an assassin), but well written with great action and characters.

"Pure strength is one thing, darling, whether it's magical or natural. It'll only get you so far. But how you use what you've been given- that's what really matters. When you figure that out, ain't nobody going to be able to touch you. Not even me or Mab Monroe."

"Death was a release, in so many ways. An end to suffering. An escape to something else. What that something else was, I didn't know. Maybe heaven. Maybe hell. Maybe nothing at all. But I doubted it could be any worse than some of the things I'd seen and done in my lifetime."
