Another fun Grisham of the couldn't put it down variety. Enjoyable read with a bit of a twist since the "good guy" is a convict and plans to outwit the authorities. Great beach read.

Great read with some real character development and the usual curt expose of the American justice system ( is that an oxymoron?)

I usually really like Grisham's books, but this one is way too involved in complexity of main character's Michaevelian (sp?) plots against 2 previous prison "friends" for no explained reason. I've ended up despising Malcolm/Max and wish I'd dropped book in the middle. 2/3rds of it is boring.

Very entertaining and exciting book with a great ending. How about a little mercy for Nattie?

I really enjoy this type of book and in the hands of an author like Grisham, the tale of Joe Average against the Big Bad Government can make time go by extremely fast, and the book is done before you know it. Great book

I have to agree with gordonhenry - a very poor outing indeed. I found the plot to be promising(ish) early on but when Grisham has the main character lie in his narration so that you are misguided in what the "real" story is (if there's such a thing in fiction ;->), it's such a disappointment when you realize you've been duped with such a cheap ploy! Wish I had the time back...

If you like Grisham novels, this one will not disappoint. Easy read - page turner.

A patron review from the Adult Summer Game: "A disappointing novel -- I usually enjoy Grisham's novels, but this one is not up to par. The story is too far fetched -- lacks the story line of his other novels."

I found this book to be rather slow and plodding; not up to the usual John Grisham standards at all. I gave up as I lost interest.
