For those who watched the original animated feature, don't expect the same kind of spark. The new music was pedestrian and slow. Also, there is a big difference being able to invoke the willful suspension of disbelief with animation and those animals that look real. The story line is the same old patriarchal BS. How much more interesting would it have been to have the lionesses kill Scar and take over themselves. Another quibble- the male lions could not have contributed to the new generation as they were not equipped with the right equipment.

Loved it!

Fantastic. Just like watching Disney and National Geographic at the same time. Very pleasant to watch. Everything is synchronized and believable at the fantasy level. Nice dialogues. Although the plot is the same old but the presentation is totally different. Highly recommended.

Saw the original animated move when it first came out on VHS. I was so impressed I watched it a couple of times with our kids. Then in my 60's saw it on stage a couple times and liked it a lot. We got the DVD yesterday and watched it and it was another wonderful experiance. The color and sound was fantastic. It was another way to experiance a lovely story, the circle of life created by Disney.

Beautiful and nostalgic.

The animation: breathtakingly beautiful and detailed. The story: breathlessly copied from the original hand-drawn version (plus a couple of comical Easter eggs from other Disney animated movies). The Biblical references mentioned by the reviewer below are there but not as obvious (or as numerous) as those to Shakespeare's Hamlet.

2019.. just amazing. OUTSTANDING

Excellent movie, the theme is familiar and basically the same as the original but the production itself is amazing....we kept on oohing and aahing all through it, it was so real....the theme of exile, vindication, and redemption, and installation to kingship and rule of the anointed king, resulting in new creation and the overcoming of corruption and blight on the land - is very biblical and true to the human condition when God is involved....the circle of life is a metaphor for God's healing rule exercised through his anointed king....

The live-action adaptation of the Disney classic, The Lion King, was well-executed and remained accurate to the first film. It felt magical and real, with sprinkled bits of humour in there to make you feel like a child again. The soundtrack was excellent with a wonderful cast to bring renditions of the original music to life and the CGI lions looked very real, allowing the audience to become completely immersed in the story. Although the story is about animals in the wild, the metaphors to human life are clear and provoke an emotional response in the audience, forcing them to think about what they’ve lost and had to overcome. The Lion King is by far one of the most emotional - yet uplifting - films I have ever seen. As a child, there were many scenes that I did not understand, however, looking back at it now as a teenager, these scenes were extremely emotional. The realism and authenticity that this movie displays is mindblowing. Although there are emotional scenes, the end result is extremely powerful and uplifting for the audience. The storyline, music, cast members, and overall visuals combined create a fascinating production. This is an amazing film to watch with family and friends, as it is suitable for all ages -@roselilly04 of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

The Lion King (2019) was an amazing film! I know that many people were disappointed by the creation of this film and thought that a classic should not have been recreated, however, I thought it was very fun to watch. The CGI was insanely great, and I thought that the voice actors suited the characters very well. For example, Seth Rogan was a great fit for the warthog because his voice and laugh suited the animal so well! The movie had some great songs in it, and it was cool to see how the filmmakers presented this classic in 2019! Overall, I really enjoyed the film! Over 100 quotes in IMDb already, thanks to the contributors; this exchange is my favorite:

Hyena: Looks like we'll be having pig for dinner. Plump and chubby.
Pumbaa: Chubby? Did he just call me chubby?
Timon: Uh-oh.
Pumbaa: It sounded a lot like he just said "chubby". Which would be a mistake because... I will not be made to feel ashamed of who I am.
Timon: Oh, boy.
Pumbaa: I may run from hyenas... but I will always fight a bully

Pumbaa: Hey, Timon, ever wonder what those sparkly dots are up there?

Timon: Pumbaa, I don't wonder; I know.

Pumbaa: Oh. What are they?

Timon: They're fireflies. Fireflies that, uh... got stuck up on that big bluish-black thing.

Pumbaa: Oh, gee. I always thought they were balls of gas burning billions of miles away.

Timon: Pumbaa, with you, everything's gas.
