Has you laughing and crying, very human. Didn't know what to expect when I started watching this, stumbled upon the title. The richness of the characters, you could feel the love in the family through the acting. Must see!
I really liked this movie with a shocking unexpected twist.
Put together an irresponsible mother who swears in front of her 7 and 11 year-old, who would rather play single shooter video games and exposes her children to her alcoholic friend, opting to drink instead of showing up for her role as mother, an 11 year-old co-dependent genius of whom way too much is asked, a 'girl-next-door' who is being sexually abused by her step father, a tragic death of a child and a murder plot and this is the movie you get. I loved Henry the boy and the actor was amazing, but the movie was completely far-fetched, story line ridiculous. In the end the mom realizes, finally, that intelligence is no substitute for wisdom. Wow- so deep, not.
kids are smarter than we give them credit for at times, are aware & can share some insightful thoughts and feelings
IF only we have the wisdom to pay attention.
family can enjoy together. well done
Henry was the man, or rather, head of the household who looked out for his little brother, his care free single mother and a school mate next door. The little Henry instead of a big Henry made the film more intriguing and the final twist made it a feel good film overall. A rare family film these days.
The Book of Henry was a beautiful and thought provoking movie. It really makes you remember that while children may be so mature and smart, they are still children in the end. It had a beautiful storyline which showed a young boy who is so very smart come up with a plan to rescue his neighbour but sadly a tragic incident occurs before he can and it becomes upto the mother to deal with the situation. I warn you, this story will make you cry, but it will also make you laugh and smile and really appreciate this beautiful movie.
This drama/crime film is about a single mother who works full-time and is raising a very odd yet incredible son named Henry. After learning a dark secret about the neighbours, she is shocked to learn that Henry already has a plan. The movie stars Naomi Watts, Sarah Silverman, Dean Norris, Lee Pace, and many more in this very eventful film. Although not everything was perfectly executed and there were some awkward moments between transitions and storyline changes, it is without a doubt entertaining and contains many important messages. I would rate this movie 3/5 stars and recommend it to those who like dramatic and versatile films. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
After Henry died the whole story became so implausible we didn’t finish it. Great acting, especially from this boys.
Special features interesting. A Rub Goldberg expert was hired for the set in the neat tree house. Movie a bit slow at times and far fetched after Henry died. Few "F" bombs. Nice tattoo on Sarah Silverman. Lots of surprises.
What a great story
