If you think the alphabet stops with Z, you are wrong. So wrong. Leave it to Conrad Cornelius o'Donald o'Dell (with a little help from Dr. Seuss) to create an entirely new alphabet beginning with Z ! This rhyming picture book introduces twenty new letters and the creatures that one can spell with them. Discover (and spell) such wonderfully Seussian creations as the Yuzz-a-ma-Tuzz and the High Gargel-orum. Readers young and old will be giggling from beginning to end . . . or should we say, from Yuzz to Hi!

Cool idea, well told. It's a story about what if there were more letters of the alphabet, and what creatures they might help describe. I'd hand it to a seven year old, for some hearty giggles.

On the first page of this story, a boy has just recited his ABCs when another boy comes along and says, why stop there? He then proceeds to tell Conrad O'Dell all about of his made up letters that he uses to go beyond Z. He also has a made up thing that goes with each letter. Conrad O'Dell decides that he has indeed been missing out by stopping only at Z and begins to make up his own alphabet.

The illustrations are mostly red, black, white and blue, but are of the high quality expected from Dr. Seuss. The stories for each letter are quite complicated and produce some serious tongue twisters. At one point he uses the word fun-th (fun with a lisp) to rhyme with month.

This book is advertized for grades k-4. I cannot see early readers reading this complicated book nor having it read aloud to them. I think this imaginative book would be better used for the end of 1st grade through 4th grade after the ABCs have been strongly mastered. It is written on the third grade reading level.

Creative and fun- what words can you spell if you use extra letters after z?
