Contains: 'Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde', The 'The Body Snatcher', and 'Olalla' Stevenson's story is one of the most famous works of horror fiction of all time and the names of Jekyll and Hyde have become synonymous with the idea of the split personality. As an exploration of the human potential for evil and bestiality, the story is very much a product of its time and this new edition reveals the scientific and literary context of Stevenson's work. 'The Body Snatcher' is charts the murky underside of Victorian medical practice and 'Olalla' is a tale of vampirism and 'the beast within' with a beautiful woman at its centre.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is classic story of Dr. Jekyll, a benign scientist, and his strange relationship with the malevolent Mr. Hyde. I really enjoyed this story, although I found it to be on the short side and wish there was a bit more to it. The story works with some very big themes like “what is good and evil?” as well as the duality and nature of man with some interesting views from various characters in the story, most notably Dr. Jekyll. If you already know the twist to the story, this book will be a little boring early on, but the final section is definitely the part I found the most enjoyable, and is worth reading the rest of the story for considering its brevity. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is definitely worth picking up. 4/5 Stars - @Fulton of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
