“Zo, I'm not a damn pussy!'
Erik, looking very tall and full-grown, kick-your-butt vampyre-like, snorted sarcastically and then said, 'No, you're a damn human. Wait, that does make you a pussy!”
“I'm her protection! I don't care if it's in this world or the next. Just show me how to get where she is, and I'll be there for her. ~Stark”
“My mama told me don't trust no white boy, even a pretty one. I'm thinkin' a pretty white boy with wings explodin' up from the ground in a mess of blood and ugly-ass bird things is double trouble." - Kramisha ”
“I should have kissed more than your hand...thought I'd have more time," he whispered between liquid, panting breaths. "...too late now."
I looked into his eyes and completely forgot the rest of the world. In that moment, all I knew was that I was holding Stark in my arms, and I was going to lose him very, very soon.”
“Actually, since I'm gay I think I should count for two guys instead of just one. I mean, in me you get the male point of view and you don't have to worry about me wanting to touch your boobies.”

Zoey Redbird has achieved some of her goals, but now she has more enemies and two boyfriends.Zoey needs all the help she can get her bff is dead and her human boyfriend is missing.Zoey has to cooperate with her enemy to save him.
At her first parent visitation, the girl named Zoey is reunited with her family for the first time in a month. She joyously welcomes her grandmother, but is saddened to notice the stiffness of her parents, which contrasts strongly with the loving and friendly behavior of Stevie Rae's mother. Neferet comes upon their meeting and is almost immediately engaged in a religious dispute by Zoey's stepfather. In the ensuing argument, Zoey's parents vow never to come to the House of Night again, and Neferet kicks them out.
The same night, Zoey witnesses Aphrodite being verbally abused at by her parents and starts developing sympathy for her enemy. Later on, she chances upon Neferet scolding Aphrodite and is shocked by this new side of her mentor. That day, Neferet invites Zoey for a private dinner. Upon hearing that Zoey saw her and Aphrodite, she informs her that the latter's visions were no longer valid, as Nyx had withdrawn her gift, and advises Zoey to keep her distance.
Later on, while watching TV, Zoey learns of the death of one of the high school football players whom she knew and goes on a walk to clear her head. She chances upon a crying Aphrodite who claims to have had another vision that included Zoey's grandmother. She asks for a favor for her help and asks Zoey to take an oath. Unwilling to risk her grandmother's life, she accepts and learns that Aphrodite has seen her grandmother in a car, stuck on a collapsing local bridge, at a precise time. Zoey calls her grandmother to tell her to stay at home and then she and her friends make a call to the police about a bomb on the bridge, to keep other people away from it, around the time it was set to fall. Aphrodite's vision turns out to be true, making Zoey begin to doubt Neferet.
My frustration with the 2nd book is that it takes a few chapters before you can really get into because she is forcing a recap of the 1st book to get anyone caught up. The characters can be annoying. I understand that the twins have a deep spiritual connection but I think the author could have found a cooler way of getting that point across than just having them complete each others sentences or repeating each other, she makes them look stupid.
Zoey is a little too perfect for my liking. She used any opportunity to call Aprodite a "ho". I kept thinking "enough already, we get it, you dont like her). I think the author forces too many of her points. Shes slightly preachy about her feelings on religion, and the fact that everyone should accpet gay people. It was ok to read at first but after about the 10th time it was mentioned in the book--I wanted to yell.
Overall the story line of the Vampyre school and the adventures I think are original. I am interested in following the series despite the flat characters and the cliches. I am just starting the 3rd book and I hope I dont get too anoyed with it to finish it.
