In my search for any DVD with Graham Greene (the beautiful Kicking Bird) I came across this & found it a bit simplistic, dead on with several comments & definitely to the point of what the Great White Fathers thought of the Native Americans. However, this is not a memoir at all, it's a hoax. When one goes further in this search it's kind of shocking & definielty sad. Beautiful scenery, always the enjoyable Tantoo, Cromwell & Greene, awful scene with the rattler - scared the geewhiz out of me.

Well, it isn't the book. Once you get past Hollywood's need to back Native Americans ignorant, naive, and "backwoodsy," I guess it isn't that bad.

Quiet, tender, cute -- underplayed (in a good way). I enjoyed the story greatly -- and especially liked the way them folk talked then (in :)!

Indian culture and the unfairness of the dominating culture prevail and yet in the ugly midst -- a light shines through. Beauty, humor and good moments in life prevail and live aside ugly truths.
