This is a great movie that is well worth watching not only once, but multiple times. Dustin Hoffman is brilliant as the very complex comedian Lenny Bruce. He does him justice. The film is a testament to how great cinema can get, even when dealing with real-life characters and stories. This is a masterpiece that has unfortunately been misplaced by history. I hope it will be found again.

Seems like an overrated movie about a mediocre comic. I think that his real story is actually more of a drug addict than a persecuted man.

Well done biopic of the groundbreaking outspoken man who influenced the likes of Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Bill Cosby, Jerry Seinfeld, Lewis Black, Jon Stewart, Joan Rivers, Sam Kinison, Howard Stern, Denis Leary, Louis C.K., Andrew Dice Clay, and countless others. He pushed the boundaries of free speech in a then morally repressed and rigid America. Man, how things have changed. He was also portrayed as somewhat of an arrogant jerk, though. Hoffman and Perrine were excellent. Sad, sloppy, lonely ending.

Lenny Bruce: "We all want for a wife: a combination Sunday school teacher, and a five hundred dollar-a-night hooker!"
