The film showed a great deal of Chinese american culture and how it plays out in daily life. It also examined being a gay Chinese American and its tensions with the larger Chinese American culture. A great movie overall.

This is a 5-star movie and should not be dismissed because of some of the subject matter. You get to witness comedy, drama, romance, and some excellent acting; it's much more interesting than you might imagine from the synopsis.
