Comment
Add a CommentThe Baudelaire orphans are now under the care of Aunt Josephine, who is not a relative and fears everything from the doormat to the stove to having stray hair in her face. If you mutter under your breath at grammar errors, you will love this book as Aunt Josephine is utterly devoted to grammar and its proper use.
The book is voiced by the author, who does an excellent job, and I quickly got over my disappointment that Tim Curry, reader of the first audiobook in the Series of Unfortunate Events, did not resume his role.
It’s important to have read book #1 to have familiarity with Count Olaf. I had skipped #2 and still found this third book delightful. I continue to enjoy the author’s skill in using less common words and phrases and providing their explanation in a humorous manner so that one does not have to find a dictionary to investigate the words. Again this is a fabulous method to expand vocabulary for young readers.
Our whole family is into Lemony Snicket, so the audiobook was perfect for our roadtrip. We covered 3 audio books during drive back and forth from the bay area to LA.
