It's up to Juan Cabrillo, captain of the state-of-the-art ship Oregon, and his crew of educated and intelligent mercenaries to put Tibet back in the hands of the Dalai Lama by striking a deal with the Russians and the Chinese. His gambling chip is a golden Buddha containing records of vast oil reserves in the disputed land, but first, he'll have to locate--and steal--the artifact.

One of my favourite books by Cussler of the ones I've read so far. I definitely would have liked it more without the whole involvement of the characters in the "liberation" of Tibet. Just the theft and maybe the arrangement of the votes in the UN would have been more than enough. A case of not knowing when to stop
