In 2002 Detroit rapper and icon Eminem released his movie "8 Mile" along with the movie's soundtrack which shared the identical name. The soundtrack is sixteen tracks in length and eighty minutes and forty three seconds in duration. With original songs as well as soundtrack intended songs from many hip hop artists as well as a couple artists from branching genres. The listed artists on here consist of rappers Eminem himself; Obie Trice; 50 Cent; Eminem's Local Detroit Hip Hop group D12; Jay Z; Freeway; XZIBIT; Nas; Rakim; GangStarr; Young Zee; and artists from other genres Marcy Gray; and BoomKat. The tracklist on this soundtrack consist of Eminem - Lose Yourself; Eminem/Obie Trice/ 50 Cent - Love Me; Eminem - 8 Mile; Obie Trice - Adrenaline Rush; 50 Cent - Places To Go; D12 - Rap Game; Jay Z featuring Freeway - 8 Miles and Runnin'; XZIBIT - Spit Shine; Marcy Gray - Time of My Life; Nas - U Wanna Be Me; 50 Cent - Wanksta; BoomKat (Taryn Manning) - Wasting Time; Rakim - R.A.K.I.M.; Young Zee - That's My ***** Fo' Real; GangStarr - Battle; Eminem - Rabbit Run. The soundtrack fits extremely well with the movie and perfectly executes its goal of putting the viewer or in this case the listener in an atmosphere that emulates every emotion felt through out the entire movie. This soundtrack has a few old school legends and more underground artists such as Rakim, Obie Trice, and Freeway, however the majority of this album any hip hop fan whether they are casual listeners or hip hop heads can enjoy. Personally my favourite track on here is probably the last track: Eminem - Rabbit Run since sonically alone it pumps you up and gets you hyped, it puts you in the movie's main character's shoes and gives a better perspective of his vision and his life. If I were to rate this I'd say its by far the one of best soundtracks I've ever listened to movie wise. I give the 8 Mile soundtrack a 7.5/10.
