The second book in the Inspector Green series starts with a winter's day's unwitnessed death of an elderly recluse in an Ottawa hospital parking lot. While processed as a natural passing, Inspector Green's instincts are twitching. The plot revolves around the survivors from a small Polish town swept up in WWII and Hitler's final solution. These suppressed memories have caught up to Green's father's generation and the story moves back and forth from past to present. The reader has to figure out motives and opportunities as the story tumbles past and present clues. What are the identitiesof the victims and who is the culprit are the mysteries to be solved.
