not an easy read, but one will remember the characters, the setting and some of the plot for many years

An interesting narrative which initially appears straight-forward, and centered around obvious characters, but as events unfold, minor characters intercept into and then exit the circle of protagonists, leaving very rich (because contradictory) perceptions of the characters.

Historical subject, told by a modern and conscientious voice.

There is alot more to savour in this book beyond "A Romance".
