Freshly promoted DI Anna Travis reunites with DCS James Langton to investigate the murder of a former police officer. The dead man was Langton's friend and the detectives soon learn that the case is much bigger than they first believed.
I didn't like the ending here. A single engine plane full of drugs flown by the bad guy takes off and the police that were chasing him stand around with pouts on their faces. Isn't anyone going to call in the British police air patrol or the British Air Force to track the plane, intercept it, arrest the bad guy? The plane has to land somewhere. This is what happens when women write the plots that go nowhere. DI Anna Travis irritated me by nitwit behavior (she must be a Liberal). Her response to messing up is to tell her boss that she loves him as they both picture their careers going into the toilet.
THE worst English police-detective show I've ever seen; good luck if you try watching this. The script, cinematography, characters are bleech. Gratuitous Hollywood style cursing-up-the-yin-yang only adds to the bad taste. (P.S. Director Gillies MacKinnon is oblivious and does no favors for the millions of hearing impaired and deaf viewers with non-sharp white letter cc's that are esp hard-to-read whenever the setting is light, e.g. in daytime, characters in light colored attire, white walls, etc..)
Loved the books, and was really looking forward to the series! Unfortunately was not as good as the book or other La plante series that I have watched that have been made for TV...characters were not quite believable. Hopefully the other episodes will be better - I really did want to like this more than I did. B -

First time to have a drama whereby the suspect outwitted the police and got away.
