The Cable Guy was one of the films that dangerously came close to being a disposable comedy, in this case, some kind of buddy film.
It instead has very few rivals in films depicting sociopathic thrillers/black comedy. Also it's depiction of a media obsessed individual cuts closer to home with each year of entertainment and culture saturation.
Also, huge amount of cameos from the Ben Stiller group, including Ben Stiller of course, Bob Odenkirk (as a family member with one line), David Cross (as a coworker with one line), Janeane Garofalo (as a waitress), Andy Dick (as a king) and Jack Black (with more than a few lines, as well as his bandmate Kyle Gass).
Oh, and Mathew Broderick was in it too, I'm pretty sure.

I've been reading Judd Apatow's book, SICK IN THE HEAD, and learned that the world was not ready for a film like THE CABLE GUY. It wasn't well received because it was ahead of its time. I truly think it would have found an audience in this century. Darkly comedic and wonderfully well written, I enjoyed the warped mentality of the titular cable guy as he systematically meddles in his client's life. You felt he was fully absorbed in what he was doing and, in this interconnected era, we can see how easily the television becomes the baby-sitter. There's more than just laughs to this film. I definitely recommend it.

Classic. Dysfunctional dark humour that works not only do you laugh you get annoyed you get perturbed you chuckle again. Classic! It's funny how people get uncomfortable with the preachy ending and miss that it's still resonating the dark humour from the first scenes ... Make popcorn, we did Jiffy POP (death to mircowaves)

This movie is absolutely hilarious, and has a wonderful cast. If you are a fan of dark comedies then this movie is a must see.

To me, the only word that comes to mind when I think of this film is WEIRD. Despite its over- the- top, creepy style, I liked this movie
