This story contrasts the vibrant passions of two young characters against those of retired Arthur Beauchamp for his new neighbor, Margaret Blake. Many chuckles as Deverell describes the mating of these couples. This story includes court reports so it seems as if one is in the court as witnesses tell what they saw and heard. The topic of the story certainly is in the news....sexual assault of a student by a teacher. Deverell shows how each of the main participants viewed the event. Who should be believed?
Very enjoyable, although I admit I was losing my patience with Arthur's bumblings in the courtroom due to his daydreaming about Margaret. I liked how Deverell ends the story.
