not the best S.D it was 2 short and, i didn't fall in love with the story it like her other books. :(
It was a good book. Got a bit confused sometimes but figured it out. It quite sad what happened at the end of the book with sumner and haven.
Very well written book! Haven was character I could somehow relate to. The plot was realistic.
I actually wished that Ashley would call off the wedding and marry Sumner - that was, of course, before I read the ending. I loved the intense emotion of this book as well as the suspense. Everything was amazing.
I rated this 4 stars because many books are better, but this was still an enjoyable read that I stayed up late into the night reading. :-)
this book was great but it was sad at the end between Haven and Sumner
That summer is a novel that revolves around a 5'11 15 year old that deals with trying to figure out who she is as well as trying to figure out how to fix the relationships in her life (with her sister and her dad). Haven is trying to deal with the fact their father is getting married, to another woman, and on top of that she has to deal with the drama of her perfect older sister getting married. For some reason, Haven keeps going back to that time when the five year gap between her and her sister didn't seem that big, when her parents were still together, when she was happy, the summer her sister Ashley dated Sumner Lee. Ashley has had a lot of boyfriends, but that only one who was really special, at least to Haven was Sumner. When Sumner shows up randomly, Haven finally realizes what the past was and she tries to come to terms with the future. That summer is Sarah Dessen's first novel, and in a way you can tell. After reading all of Sarah Dessen's books except for keeping the moon, I felt like this book stood out from the rest. It was a different format all together, not really focusing on a single romance. I adored Sumner Lee, Sarah Dessen has a talent for making the most perfect boys. More than falling in love, this book was about Haven growing as a person, and learning to be comfortable in her own skin, and even though I love Sarah Dessen's romances, this was refreshing to read. Throughout this book, through Sumner, Haven realizes that change is good, that sometimes we need things to change so we can grow as people. Haven recognizes that the past did happen, but it is important to acknowledge that it is the past and we must now learn from it in order to grasp the future and the only way we can accomplish that, is to live in the present.
I love books sarah dessen, but this one is not its best. I do not fall in love with it as I was with the others.
I really liked this book! There is a whole series, u can read all of them. Jst like a normal life and how other people would deal with these problems.
Another great book by Sarah Dessen addressing common "issues" faced by typical teen and young adult girls (body image issues, parents divorced, sister marrying and leaving the house, etc.). Also not my favourite novel by this author, but I think it was her first.
Miss Sarah Dessen, had no idea what she was starting. This book is great and you finaly see the truth about how hard and crazy a wedding can be. Trully...Truthful! :D
Slow start, but the characters are relatable.
