Add a CommentSeriously, this movie is the BEST! Absolutely hilarious and so much fun! The songs are addicting and I loved the storyline! There are so many celebrities in this movie that it's hard to name them all, but you'll have fun picking them out. I saw this in the theatre when it came out and I recently saw it again on the big screen. It's definitely as amazing now as it was when it premiered.
Lights! Camera! Action! - It's "The Muppet Movie"!
If you like the Muppet puppets, then, you're sure to be pleasantly entertained by this "Jim Henson" production which contains plenty of cute humor, wild sight gags, and a non-stop parade of cameo appearances by notable Hollywood celebrities.
The Muppet Movie's story stars Kermit, the frog, who travels across America (from the swamps of Florida to the bright lights of Tinseltown), seeking his claim to fame and fortune.
All-in-all - "The Muppet Movie" is a lot of fun-fun-fun that delivers a big bang in the end.
In 1979's "The Muppet Movie" - Kermit the frog certainly proves his star-power as a banjo-playing swamp amphibian who (seeking his "15-minutes-of-fame") finds that he certainly gets more than he bargained for.
Featuring all of your favorite Muppet characters (plus numerous celebrity cameo appearances) - "The Muppet Movie" is, indeed, an amusing viewing experience of slapstick comedy, silly songs, and, yes, even romance (thrown in for good measure) that can be enjoyed by those of all ages.
A rare movie that both kids and parents can enjoy. I think of all the celebrity cameos, Richard Pryor's may be the most unexpected. Followed by "The Great Muppet Caper."
Please put the proper year on this movie - 1979. The information gets confusing when searching.
What a delight, and surprisingly fresh after all these years. The jokes keep coming, and even the lamest of them—"Gone with the Schwinn"—made me laugh. And I'd forgotten about all the star cameos: Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy, Jack Benny, Milton Berle. Those appearances will be lost on young viewers, but there's enough cheer for everyone. Enjoy Kermit on a bike!
Based on the tv show with some favorite characters.
The original and the best, The Muppet Movie holds up remarkably well for being 37 years old. It features some fantastic songs and cameos--"Rainbow Connection," "Movin' Right Along," "Can You Picture That?," Steve Martin, Richard Pryor and Caroll Spinney (Big Bird) are my favorites. Recommended for children of all ages, including adults.
Still good after all these years.
The Muppet Movie is on my top 10 favorite movies of all time list.
