Not one of Crais' best. It didn't get really interesting until about the middle of the book. A decent and otherwise fairly fast read, though. Too many moving parts (people, motives, sub-plot lines) for my tastes. Having to be stuck…

I just discovered Robert Crais this year and thoroughly enjoyed his more recent novels. I decided and go back and read the beginning of the Elvis Cole and Joe Pike series, and I reached "Taken." It truly is a gem. Thank you Robert Crais.

Crais is a very good writer and he has the ability to use the same characters (Elvis Cole and Joe Pike) in the series but without having to continually repeat the same thing over and over again like some other authors do. I like his style…

Don't believe I've ever read a novel w/ a time line that varied from chapter to chapter. But the chapter headings really smoothed the way. This one may be Crais's best yet!

Pretty scary read. Elvis Cole and Joe Pike never disappoint, and neither does Robert Crais. I liked the details of Korean, Mexican and Anglo interactions, as well as the side story of FBI involvement in the case. Reminded me of P.T.…

I like Crais a lot, but he's fallen into the same thing that Robert Parker did: his hero and his hero's scary sidekick have each now killed more people than the Green River Killer and Ted Bundy combined. He needs to figure out a way to…

Worthwhile read featuring Crais' Elvis Cole and Joe Pike. Crais offers the reader structural help with chapter headings as each character describes what he has been doing to help solve the crime/move the action along. So be prepared for…

If you want a light read that isn't too deep this is a good book for that. After reading 'The Sentry' and now this one, personally I've grown tired of this series. The characters Pike and Cole are interesting enough that I wanted to keep…

I was very disappointed with this book. I usually enjoy his works but this fell far short of his best.
"Robert Crais’s superb novels starring Elvis Cole and Joe Pike separately command plotlines that always seem original. Now, 15 books in, they’re hunting together in Taken, one of Crais’s best yet."
