Description

Calling all 'senior-preneurs'!

Are you an older adult who wants to, or has started a small business? This program will give you tools to succeed!

This program will offer a series of workshops adapted from the Community Innovation Lab's Seniorpreneur Program for Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship.

Participants will learn various aspects of entrepreneurship and get hands on experience with Maker Space resources available at the library that support small businesses. You can look forward to learning about:

Design Thinking: A process of identifying ideas and problems

Lean Startup Method: A process of building solutions and measuring progress

Business Model Canvas: A process of organizing business creation

Small business marketing and prototyping tools available to you at your local library

        & much more!

Upon completion of all 6 workshops in the series, participants will receive a startup gift certificate to use in the Pickering Public Library Maker Space.

This program seeks to help older adults create new economic opportunities and help small business pursuits prosper. Participants will also gain financial literacy and personal wellness resources while building positive social connections with other small business owners in their community.

This cohort of the program will be offered two days a week, for three weeks. This includes:

        • Monday, January 23
        • Wednesday, January 25
        • Monday, January 30
        • Wednesday, February 1
        • Monday, February 6
        • Wednesday, February 8

Registrants are encouraged to attend all 6 workshops. Upon registration, you will be enrolled for all 6 dates.

Please note, this program will be facilitated by community partner guest presenters and library staff.

To provide a tailored learning experience, all registrants will be contacted by the community partner guest presenter prior to the start of the program. This will allow the workshop content to be reflective of all the needs of the registered participants.
