Solid SF and Fantasy Novel Series

Annotation:A light, fun adventure story. This series is the only good fiction I know of to come out of the Dungeons & Dragons world.

Annotation:Enjoyable, and works as a standalone novel. The sequel, Ex-Kop, can also be enjoyed as a standalone novel.

Annotation:Sadly, I haven't read the final book in the series yet, because my library doesn't carry it. The first two books were good, though.

Annotation:Jack Vance writes about clever characters. What's interesting is that he actually *shows* you that his characters are clever, rather than just *telling* you, as most authors do. Also recommended: The Dying Earth, Planet Adventure

Annotation:A different kind of story... very enjoyable. Anything by Robin Hobb is good.

Annotation:Wow... just wow. This one you've got to read at least twice to pick up all the nuances. First book in a trilogy... at the time I write this (2011) the third book is still being written.

Annotation:First book of a trilogy... followed up by another good trilogy, followed up by a not-so-good trilogy. First trilogy stars an unlikely (and sometimes unlikeable) hero.

Annotation:This series should be subtitled: "set in the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer". No, you won't find Buffy featured in the novel, but you will find vampires, wizards and demons, as well as a bit of humor. A light read, but enjoyable.

Annotation:Napoleonic Wars, but with dragons. This is the omnibus edition - the first book in the series is His Majesty's Dragon.
