Quotes
Add a QuoteChristine to Phantom, singing softly: “Pitiful creature of darkness, what kind of life have you known? God give me courage to show you, you are not alone
The Phantom, singing to Christine: “This face, which earned a mother’s fear and loathing, a mask, my first, unfeeling scrap of clothing. Pity comes too late, turn around, and face your fate, an eternity of this, before your eyes.” Christine: “This haunted face, holds no horror for me now. It’s in your soul, that the true distortion lies.” Phantom: “Wait, I think my dear, we have a guest. Sir, this is indeed, an imperial delight. I had rather hoped that you would come. And now, my wish comes true, you have truly made my night.” Raoul: “Free her! Do what you like only free her. Have you no pity?” Phantom to Christine: “Your lover makes a passionate plea.” Christine: “Please Raoul, it’s useless.” Raoul: “I love her! Does that mean nothing, I love her! Show some compassion!” Phantom, gesturing to his face: “The World showed no compassion to me!”

Add a CommentI loved it. From the beginning to the end, this film hypnotized me with its music and colors. My sister and I hold this film, and the others before it, with a special love in our hearts for it. My faovrite song in the film is " The Point Of No Return".
An atrociously bad film production of a cheap Broadway musical. ANY of version of Phantom is preferable.
i really liked this movie. Gerard Butler doesn't have the greatest voice, but I thought that's how it should be. He gave the phantom real emotion. I am disappointed this version left out the song "Masquade".
Beautiful, captivating movie of a mysterious yet charming musical genius and a young female's growing love for each other! I highly recommend watching it or reading the book! Also couldn't believe this is a true story that originally occurred in the 1800's!
In sleep, he sang to me, In dreams, he came, that voice that summons me and speaks my name, and though I dream again, his love still shines, the Phantom of the opera is here, Inside my mind.
Let's see... I don't like musicals, I don't like Andrew Lloyd Webber, I've never seen the stage version, and this is the very same director who made the wretchedly awful Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. Still, the movie actually works despite all that. The cast is exceptional, the production values are just right, and Schumacher seems to be in his element with this. Who'd have thought it possible? Mind you, the central story of a rather deranged and obsessive scarred guy who likes to go around killing anyone who gets in his way is more then a little troubling....
I don't understand why a movie about a stalker/abductor is romantic! I thought the book was good, but I hate it when creepiness is passed off as romance. The musical score is well-done, though.
A++ A must see DVD!!!!!!
Gerard Butler is by far the best Phantom there ever was, I haven't seen one since that tops his performance.
This version of Phantom of the Opera was a great film version of the musical. One will enjoy lovely heartrending music from Andrew Llyod Webber himself.
